This is part 2 of a 3 week long series about taxes.
Today, I figured that I’d tell you how to locate your refund.
Who do you call when you have questions about your refund?
I know first hand how it feels when that money don’t show up when expected. Especially when you have made plans with it. Lasy year, we got a huge tramploine for the kids, a transmition for my mini van, a nice car seat for one of the baby boys and a money order with the rest. We’re not sure what we will do with this years refund. With a son going to college, I’m sure something will come up. In the meantime, here’s how to stay on top of your money.
If you e-filed your tax return and requested that the tax refund be directly deposited in your bank account, the IRS states you should have your tax refund within a 3 week period. If you chose to file a paper tax return and asked the check be mailed to you, expect a wait of up to 8 weeks to get your tax refund.
The only pieces of information you need are:
- Social Security number or EIN as used on the return
- The exact refund amount as filed on your return
- Marital status
Assuming that it has been accepted by the IRS. Call: 1-800-829-1954. Or go online to
You may also check this IRS site out. It will tell you the projected date that the refund will be direct deposited or mailed to you. http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p2043.pdf
Now your state returns are different. A state income tax refund can be tracked by checking with the state taxation agency where you filed your state income tax return. (example: NC Department of Revenue) You should wait at least 48 hours before attempting to track a state income tax refund that was filed electronically. A state income tax refund may be received within 30 days of electronically filing the state income tax return. You may also call the state department of revenue office where the state income tax return was filed. The department of revenue representative will indicate if the state tax return was accepted and the date you can expect to receive the state income tax refund.
Contact your tax preparer if you did not do it yourself. The person or business that prepared your income tax return should be able to tell you if your tax returns were accepted or rejected. In addition, the tax preparer should be able to provide an approximate date as to when you will receive your state income tax refund. After all isn’t that why you paid the fee? (I use KP Tax Service, but that’s just me. )
Got it- ok. Now on to the sweet potatoe part we go!
I think I know why people eat meal replacement bars. Honestly, I think someone should come up with a tablet. For people like me, that can’t figure out what to fix for lunch, dinner or just don’t want to eat. Of course getting the full nutrients is a must; I guess I’m asking for alot but think about it. No taste, or preparation required, just pop it in your mouth and >< Bam>< you are full! Talk about wishfull thinking right?
I guess until then, it’s to the market I go. Since I’m still nursing,I’ll have a Belly Bar now and baked sweet potatoe fries later. Wanna try my spicey recipie? Here it goes!
- 2 pounds sweet potatoes, about 3 large ones
- 1/4 cup olive or other vegetable oil
- 1 Tbsp salt
- 1-2 Tbsp spice or spice combination of your choice: chipotle powder, smoked paprika, Chinese five-spice, pumpkin pie spice, garam masala, Cajun seasoning, etc.
- (0ptional) 1 Tbsp sugar
Cut into wedges or slices, tossed in olive oil, sprinkled with spices, and baked on high heat until crispy and browned. Addictive!
What To Look For
Find firm, medium-sized potatoes with tapered ends. Avoid ones with blemishes, sprouts, or any sign of decay.
Easy Storage and Preparation
They will keep for several weeks when stored outside the refrigerator in a cool, dark and dry place. Scrub well before using.
