I have in place a few women with strong skills that will not only help our wonderful mom support group & themselves , but also other moms in the circle. So moms, & fellow dreamers. Keep your eyes on the prize. Tripping is okay as long as you JUMP  back up with shin guards on.

God has such a thoughtful way of saying ‘slow down’. I’ve could listen to human warnings, instead it came in the most embarrassing & yet prolific way.  Well, I’ve since learned to delegate and become more strategic with my time.  2011 -12 was a test of my endurance confidence and character! I made it through & I can’t wait to see what 2013 & on will bring! Have a great weekend everyone!

I’m Mrs Kelle Lakesha Pressley- Perkins and I approve this message!

Remember:

“For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control.” 2 Timothy 1:7 (Amplified Bible)

Friday Four: WON’T BACK DOWN movie review

Won’t Back Down

This is a movie every mom should watch. Maggie Gyllenhaal and Viola Davis play two determined mothers, one a teacher, who will stop at nothing to transform their children’s failing inner city school. Facing a powerful and entrenched bureaucracy, they risk everything to make a difference in the education and future of their children.

For me, it pulled every emotion from a loving moms heart! Those moms aggressively advocated on behalf of their child and other students in this lackluster community school. That was something I could totally relate with. Every part of that movie was relative. Many people don’t know about dyslexia, this movie explained it on a level anyone will understand.  You could feel it! From the hugs between mom & child to the decision one mom made to release her son to his dad. It was intense! LOVE IT!

Two other moms from my stay at home mom group attended and here’s what they thought about the movie:

“Eve”     Great movie, could serve as an inspiration for other parents to fight for a better education for their children. The relationship between the mom and her son, I knew tears were coming. He told her, “It’s ok…you can lay down next to me if you want,” and then he kissed her on the forehead–I lost it!

“Lika”  This was a great family movie. It gets 4 stars!

This movie has it all:  humor, excitement, romance, betrayal and facing life changing challenges.  In theaters nationwide on Friday, September 28th, so grab

a friend & go watch it! In the meantime, here’s the trailer- QC Super Mom

HOP/HOPE! (ONCE YOU WATCH IT, YOU’LL KNOW WHY I WROTE IT!)

Wednesday Wow: Swag!! The Re-Used Edition

Swag is great! I love to see lil Wee’s ripping the pathways. But does swag HAVE to rip my purse too?

I say heck’s to N-O!

One area of our budget we have really been able to save on is clothing. Thrift stores  (and even yard sales) are great places to find kids’ clothes for less. I love that I can get name brand, good quality clothing that last through several children for a fraction of the cost. Someone once told me that, although my children didn’t mind wearing second hand clothing when they were little that would all change when they reached the teen years. I disagree, so far I have three lil boys and  two teenage girls that love shopping at the thrift store.

I asked my kids what they thought of shopping at the thrift store and here are some of their responses. I did not prep them at all. I just took out the camera and asked who wanted to talk about thrift stores, these are honest opinions from my kids.

I have nothing in my closet but Abercrombie, American Eagle, and Hollister. I’m beginning to get a little tired of me dressing the almost EXACT same way everyday just with different colors. I dont dress to impress other people, I dress to impress myself. Lately most of these outfits i get come from second hand stores. I love them. 13 Deanna

Having ‘swag’ is your own personal style and personality. Not following behind trends. You have to have a confidence to yourself, like you’re the hottest thing when you walk in a room. 12 Cassie

I have loads of fun dressing my younger 2 boys, but the 2 older ones, and daughters, I can call it a wrap. Because they do appreciate great finds at “Make mamma happy prices!” i think more moms would shop if they saw great things from the racks, as well as hearing someone say”Heay, it’s okay to shop here!” So, that’s just what we’ve (my Queen City Stay At Home Moms & I) have been doing for 3 years now.  We  help moms by bringing that same message on home with a Re-Fashion Show at The Total Children’s Wellness Fair 2012.

by proving that you inevitably don’t have to spend $80 for a t-shirt for your son.

Look at these cute pics I grabbed off line. Would your lil one rock it?

Wednesday Wow: The big sweep through

Donnie McClurkin is building a relationship with his son, Mathew

Video: Donnie McClurkin Mends ‘Broken’ Relationship With 12-Year-Old Son Matthew!

He’s never spoken that much about him in an attempt to protect him (which is quite understandable) . However, when his radio show first aired his son was on with him one morning. He has also discussed him BRIEFLY in past interviews and mentioned that part of the inspiration for his song “We Fall Down” was the fact that he fathered this child out of wedlock with Kim Artis.

JC and I next! It’s our time to build. She’s a little older, but I know it can get be done. I’m picking her up  in the morning!

It’s gonna be one quite ride back across the state line. I’ve been on more bonding sites over the last few weeks than I can count at this time. Honestly, it can’t be too much to stress over. My two in the house and I get along great so far. We’ll see!

Here are a couple of tips I want to share: Q: When your daughter starts to pull away, what does that mean?

A: Part of a teen girl pulling away is simply growing up and becoming autonomous, making choices, suffering some consequences, and learning to stand on her own feet. But there’s another pulling away that’s a warning sign. It could be your daughter’s been hurt by someone, or has lost trust in Mom, or is trying to hide something. A well-timed, non-judgmental, loving conversation might restore the relationship. But don’t push too hard — a bit of space between teens and parents is healthy.

Q: What does your teenage daughter want you to know but will never tell you?

A: While it’s different with every girl, it usually involves her insecurities. But she doesn’t want to tell you that because it’s like admitting to feeling like a failure. But the primary insecurities teen girls deal with are usually related to 1) her appearance, 2) her friends, 3) boys, and 4) her place in the world at large. This page had some great ideas too!

O, well time to pull out all the COURAGE & miracle juice I can find.  What a BIG  job ahead! Any tips to share?

Pray for me.
