No one wants to talk about life insurance. But every parent should. Some parents, like myself may feel that insurance protection is unaffordable; others may just not know. Being uninsured can have a devastating effect on the entire families life! I learned the value of a policy when my 11 year old daughter passed in 2005. Although we had the funds to cover her final exspenses, we could have kept the money in the account for the other children educational expenses.
It all boils down to one question, if you die, will your loved ones suffer financially?
If the answer is “yes”, you need life insurance. It,provides cash to your family after your death. This cash (known as the death benefit) replaces your income and can help your family meet many important financial needs like funeral costs, daily living expenses and college funding. What’s more, there is no federal income tax on life insurance benefits.

I will admit, it’s scary, a lot to consider…and even easier to overlook; because it is another human being relying on you for the next 20 years. Not just emotionally— but financially too!
One thing remains true for many single parents, Your children depend on you and only you. So what would happen to them if you weren’t around for them tomorrow?-NewYorkLife
“Having a life insurance policy could mean a spouse or children won’t have to sell assets to pay bills or taxes” in the event of an unforeseen death. Think about it. After a death, the bills continue. Would they be able to meet ongoing living expenses like the rent or mortgage, food, clothing, transportation costs, healthcare, etc? What about long-range financial goals? Without your contribution to the household, would your surviving spouse be able to save enough money to put the kids through college or retire comfortably? That’s alot to consider. It took my husband and I three weeks to find a policy that fit our family’s budget. If you need help with “the talk” call my friend, Sulayman Nyang Jr. His office can help you and I trust them. So what are you waiting on. Look, it’s always a struggle when you lose someone you love. As a parent it’s your job to consider the “what ifs.” You babyproof your home, buy car seats withthe top safety ratings, and keep up doctor appointments, and the number for Poison Control. It’s the same idea with life insurance. “You buy it and then hope you never have to use it.”
