The concert hall at the Sydney Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 8,200 times in 2015. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 3 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.
The children and I will never be Siskel and Ebert, but we had a great time sharing our opinion of the latest movie from one of my childhood favorites, Alvin & the Chipmunks! Don’t go see it until you’reread my review of ” Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip”

I loved it. My 2 year old loved it. My 5 year old loved it. My 6 year old loved it. My 9 year old loved it. So did my teen daughters! Each of them had their favorite parts of the movie. Yes, thumbs up all across the board!
The highlight of my night was the subliminal messages throughout the movie! But first let me start by saying that the movie was loaded wit energy from the beginning tho the end! I think we all lost 3 lbs within 90 minutes!
So Samantha, a single mom gets with Dave and like any new love outside of their biological parents, the kids are against it. The parents went on a vacation and the adventure begins. The human son and the chipmunks have one heck of a bonding adventure! They had limited funds, but managed to get from point A to point B in the most creative ways. All while staying a step ahead of the Air Marshal that placed them on the No Fly Zone. I personally LOVED the way they used teamwork to build trust among the kid’s* Which was hard because that boy was such a hard nut to crack.
Yes, I know it was a movie, but it’s remarkable. I truly loved the authentic music scenes, the simple romancing and at the end where Dave adopted them-yes chipmunks.
It’s a movie every member of the family can enjoy! Go See and tell me what you think about the son when he got frisked at the airport. Dude peed and pooed* on himself!Well there you have it. Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip will be playing in theaters December 18, 2015. I’m off to figure out who Belle Thorne is. Have a great one ya’ll!
See this movie on Christmas Day!
Parents, you know those pictures your baby brought home from school? The ones with stick people? Go grab them out of the file cabinet and take a look at them. If you had a broken leg, or a dagger in your head, or anything else hurtful like that, chances are your kid(s) don’t like you. It’s not my words, it’s what passive, step daddy, radio executive Brad said.
In a perfect world, you get pregnant, then you, your man and baby live happily ever after.The End. I know it doesn’t always work that way. It didn’t for me. And that’s not a bad thing.
In the movie, there is a single mom of two small kids. Their dad, Dusty walked out and Brad happily rushed in bearing huge smiles and groceries filled arms! Unlike the kids dad, he is responsible, wants kids, stable, and just an all around safe bet for the family.
Unfortunately,the kids don’t like him because he isn’t their dad. Normal Right? Dusty returns and the battle of testosterone begins! He now wants his family back.He moves in the family home, making breakfast with his big muscles,charming and Fix It Duck self.–Just a bad arse*– But mama, keeps holds it together and it ends like a well written 21st century fairy tale.
No spoiler alert here but I will add, that the children WIN!
I tend to look deeper when I watch movies. I look at the roles each character plays. Both dads brought something amazing to the family.
There was a load of messages in the movie.
~ Some fights can be danced out
~Children are taught racism from their role models
~ Blended families can work and it’s worth any and all efforts from both natural mature parents
~ Take advantage of any and all parenting help.
Young crushes are still so very cute ! This movie is chock full of button popping laughs. See it on Christmas Day!!
A lot of people are gonna hate me for this one. Some businesses will too, but it must be said. Christmas is not your child’s birthday, why do you struggle over one day? It completely defeats the spirit of the season.
I had great Christmas as a child. My parents got us something every year. Not huge things, like a car or the latest sneakers but nice gifts. I remember my ET doll, the handheld Nintendo games, the Pretty Cut and Grow doll and as I got older, cash. Now ask me about my birthdays and I’ll tell you how special I always felt that one week in October! I’m so grateful they kept it in perspective for us.
With kids, it can be tricky and sometimes pointless to explain your budget, goals and situation. But you gotta do it. I’ve seen first hand how the good intentions of parents and other loved ones can quickly go bad. …… Yeeees, I’ll explain why.
1. Parents are teaching their children to be materialistic. If you are gonna shop, buy something they really need. Something that will make them a better person spiritually, educationally, nutritionally, physically, financially or even environmentally.
Give, Me Give Me Give Me. I know a parent that has one child. The child does no work in school or at home but trust and believe, that child has over $1200 in Christmas gifts coming to him. I asked why would you spend that much on him and he’s not doing the basic chores of being a child and the dad said because he’s my only son. After that comment, I reached for my glass of tea, like Kermit.’
2. Parents borrowing money to buy expensive gifts. Would you believe that some parents take out loans for Christmas shopping? Showing love should never be so crippling. Debt is a form of slavery you know. 
3 Are you really gonna give someone else credit for putting that huge smile on your child’s face? (I can’t do it. I work waaaaay to hard for that to happen)
4. You’re lying to your child. There is no Santa! It’s ok, to teach your children that charity begins at home.

I already know that the in laws, aunts and uncles are gonna buy them something. When it happens, we will graciously accept it. Then say, “I’m surprised by your present. We had agreed not to do this, so I don’t have one for you in return.” Thank you.” Make sure not to buy the person a gift in return (until their birthday or if out and see something really affordable that hey need or like). Your word is your word; be true to it.
To me, Christmas is about spending quality time with my family, listening to the kids play and argue, cooking with my children and getting some extra sleep while the older kids and/ my husband take the smaller kids out. All of the years that I spent buying Christmas gifts were not lost, it just took me time to evolve into appreciating time with my family as the most important gift that I could possibly receive and give them. (After loosing a daughter you realize that time is the most precious gift! )

Every year it get’s better! And to think, it all powered by Charlotte moms!!! Queen City Stay At Home Moms to be specific.
The first thing we did was bring back our guest from last year. They deserve it. Our venue was overbooked & I was notified 2 days before the event and although we found another venue, and still had fun, it was not the same. We felt awful about it! So bringing them back for free was just a result of good upbringing.
This is our 3rd year.
Here’s 2013- It’s theme was A Veggie Sweet Day . It was at Monkey Joes and the kids had unlimited access to the bounce houses during the party!
Here’s 2014- it’s theme was “Disney Side Love”- the goodie bags were a hit with parents and their small well dressed characters alike!
This year’s theme is Minions! The children will LOVE it! Having a dedicated Pinterest board does help as well! This year we added a karaoke Dj and invited one of Charlotte best family centered non profit service organizations to join in.

Spiritual Wellness is a personal matter involving values and beliefs that provide a purpose in our lives. While different individuals may have different views of what spiritualism is, it is generally considered to be the search for meaning and purpose in human existence, leading one to strive for a state of harmony with oneself and others while working to balance inner needs with the rest of the world
My daughters grew up in the church. They attend children’s church, children’s choir and even ushered when they were old enough. The other day my daughter told me that I don’t pray in front of them any more. If she feels this way, I can only imagine what my poor son think. See, we left our home church a few years ago and have yet to connect with another one since then. I wanted to see if my husband and I could nurture their spiritual wellness inhouse. Since we have books, and fairly spiritual (not religious) parents. For a while it worked until the conversation with my dad popped up. He asked if I was still connected with my church family. I told him yes. Then he went on to say why he wished his grandkid would have their own relationship with God. He said that sometimes kids miss parents messages, but it’s amazing what they pick up from other people’s mouth. I couldn’t do anything but agree with him after my daughter comment, so I sat down and made a plan. I will take them to church this coming sunday and see how it goes. I also created this collection to get the children on the right track. Here you go——

Lord thank you for keeping me and my family. So many people are going through hard times. I know you could never be pimped so I’m asking you father to please give them understanding. Please bring them comfort and a peace of mind. I don’t know what to do, but you do. I don’t know how to make it better but I know that you do. I don’t know how to fix it God, but I know that YOu DO because you have do it before. And your will will always be done. You God are the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. Because you are already in tomorrow, I know it will work out for them. Thank you God for being a help in a time of trouble.
