We’re Going Back To DC!

Yup, on July 11th, we are headed back to DC! 2019 PlayIn will be the best one yet! So Call All Of Your DMV folks and tell them to get here! It’s always worth the trip.

The Play in 4 Climate is a fun day to get the kids to help tell our policy makers that kids want to play outdoors in a safe environment. Not stuck indoor with respiratory issues.

Air pollution isn’t just unhealthy to breathe – it threatens our children’s future. That’s why moms across the country want to participate in a meaningful action on climate

And kids play a really big part. Not only are they getting to play right there* at the US Capitol in Washington, but they are also learning first hand how simple it is to be an effective advocate. My children grew up on Capitol HIll! It’s okay if they get a little cranky!- Trust Me!

(I still think Wheeler is wrong for the EPA- I wrote an article about it. Read it here. WRAL article here.)

That’s why moms (and kids, and poppas, and grandparents, and everyone in between) across the country want to see meaningful action on climate. You really should join in! Here’s more details:

On July 11, 2019, parents and kids from across the country will gather near the US Capitol in Washington, DC to call for climate action. This family-friendly protest against the air pollution that causes dangerous climate change showcases exactly what’s at stake as temperatures and sea levels rise: our kids. Moms know that kids can’t sit still, so we are ditching a traditional sit-in and holding our sixth annual Play-In.

The event will include exciting speakers, kids’ activities and music by Latin-GRAMMY-award-winning children’s musician, Mister G.

And If you see me there, please stop by and sign my gigantic bill—-

I’m All For Gun Safety

You know a lot of people don’t understand the importance of having a gun control laws but I do. When I was 17 a lot of you may not know this, but I was a really hip young lady. And I went to a party at a local Club and this young man asked me to dance with him and I refused him.

It happened in 1992, I went to a party at Club 261, local club back home to celebrate much anticipated ‘Summer -Sum-mer, Summer -time Season. I guess we weren’t the only ones, the place was crowded with folks.  Out of the blue, this young man asked me to dance with him and I refused him. gun

A Dangerous Trend: North Carolina Considers Weaker Gun Laws

Who knew that he would take it so hard? But then, I am Kelle! Lol, so going back to my fun time, I soon heard a loud, frustrated voice behind my head. It was the same guy, asking the same question, only to get the same answer. He was .”BIG MAD”  Minutes went by, and then the voice return it was like deja vu because everything happened again, but to my surprise, he came with a little package. Yes, a gun and he shot the gun towards my feet. Thank goodness no one was hurt. He lost all self-control. I went home that night and the next day we went to press charges on the guy. Come to find out he had no permit to carry. He failed the required testing to carry firearms. What if I was fatally shot? What if a bystander was fatally hit? and couldn’t return home that night? I know my parents love me. Other parents must love their child as well. What if This sick guy had no business with a gun.

It’s for these reasons we need real regulations and accountability for everyone that desires to carry a firearm. Even on the side of the state, there are perks to ponder. Can you imagine how much money there is to be made from people that just can’t pass the test?  If you feel the same way I need you to join Momsrising today. I’m with them.

Moms vs. The NRA: The Force Awakens!

We, the moms, dads, family members, and leaders of the United States, pledge to continue to fight for gun safety reforms to protect our kids our familMomsrising Karen and QCSupermom kelleies, and our communities, including

  • Criminal background checks for all gun purchases, including at gun shows and on the Internet.
  • A ban on military-style assault weapons and high-capacity magazines.
  • A federal anti-gun-trafficking statute with real penalties to crack down on straw purchases.

We also support funding for evidence-based community anti-violence programs that have proven to reduce the risk of gun violence in highly impacted communities. We support repealing Stand Your Ground Laws, common in many states, which facilitate racial profiling, casual gun culture, and are a huge step backwards for civil rights. We also call for federal, state and local reforms to curb police shootings of civilians with transparency and accountability. Beth NC Guns safety appeal

Here’s how with your help we can send an even louder voice saying we want our children and loved ones to be safe we want to be safe we want accountability to let’s do it together Take the PLEDGE here and read on…..

Dear blog readers, rise with me for families scarred by gun violence. Support commonsense gun reform with a gift of $5 or more to MomsRising.

Disney On Ice,”Follow Your Heart” LIVE review (Zianna O., loved the show)

The last time 9 yr old Zianna was downtown, she was speaking to a room full of people.  She  didn’t intend to make them all cry, but sometimes the truth hurts, but must be spoken. So she did it. Her words transcended through their hearts . Her message was shared internationally. Yes, this little girl had adults checking themselves for racial injustice.

zo

First thing came to my mind is, “Who are her parents? ” I wanted to hug them. (Really tight.)  Everyone doesn’t take parenting seriously. It was clear that her parents did. I knew that as a mom,  when your child hurts, you hurt. The last thing you want is to have an emotionally scarred child for life.  As adults, we know that every high and low molds us into who we are, for better or for worse. This is most true of when we are young and our brain is rapidly developing. The power of everything from an unheard cry to an unmarked facial expression can have a heavy impact on a child’s evolving psyche.zoz-bmp

Charlotte has a long way to go, but Zianna’s childhood must be protected and thank goodness, over half of Charlotte agrees with that! Including the numerous news stations that have interviewed her and  especially the amazing staff of Time Warner Cable Arena.

So guess what, for 90 minutes, Zianna her brother, mom, and stepdad attended the Disney On Ice, “Follow Your Heart” Live show. Little Zianna was laughing, dancing, moderating the story lines and just being a child. It was indeed what she and her family needed.  Big thanks to Feld Entertainment, Time Warner Cable and her parents for making this happen.

To my girl,

I will let you be children. For as long as I can, I will let you be children. I will protect your childhood fiercely. I won’t pressure you to do things you are not ready for. I will let you play, for hours I will let you play. I will let you discover yourselves. I will let you really know yourselves before you are pushed out into the big wide world on your own. I will let you imagine, and dream, and laugh, whenever you want to. I won’t ever wish this magical time away. All too soon you will be all grown up. You will worry about grown up things. But not now. For now you are a child, your job is to play, and that is important to me.

I will protect your childhood.

disnet

The show will be here until the 2nd of October. Regardless of what you feel about the police and Black Lives Movement, remember to protect your child.  Go see Disney On Ice Live “Follow Your Heart” before they leave town. It is absolutely the best thing you can do for your child (ren)

Free/Low Cost Dental Work Resources

One of my favorite street vendors and I was talking and somehow we began discussing dental care. I still don’t recall how we got on the subject, but he asked for resources because he wanted his remaining teeth all removed. I knew there were local resources, but couldn’t recall them at that time.

Once I got home I was able to collect this list for him from posting online already. I’m gonna print it and hope he makes good use of it.This list is a gift to any adult in the medical coverage whole as well.  If you are not near any of these locations, just use the keywords and enter your town or county name. Something must come up.

Wednesday Wow: I Do’ Too! Solemization

It’s Summer and officially wedding season! If you’re in North or South Carolina, I’m ya girl!

Okay, so what began as a way to bring more money into the home, has grown to something so much more. Yes, I’m creating marriages, but I’m also creating more  ways to be a part of my children life. That really excites me!

It cost me less than $200 and I can use this new asset in all 50 states for the rest of my life. To all my mama friends, readers- you gotta do it!

I’m still getting used to being called Minister Kelle, because I am a southerner, and grew up thinking of ministers sorta differently. But then I thought about it and said to myself, “Girl, you’re more real than a lot of them out there. -Girl You Good!”

So with my ordination, I can do many things.besides solemnize a wedding  I could also:

  1. Perform A Baptism/ Welcome To The World Ceremony

  2.  Preside Over A Funeral

  3. Be A Chaplain

We can touch the lives of others in a prison or hospital. Sick and dying patients in hospitals around the country have been comforted by our church’s members, and prison officials actively encourage those who are eager to bring religion to others to come to their institutions and rehabilitate their inmates.

  4. Start A Church ( I know right? Wow!)

  5.  Ordain others

The perfect couple for me would be laid back, spiritual but not too religious, fun loving , don’t have a church home and most times open minded.

For me, it’s important to know the couple and meet them way before they get to the altar.I want to know if couple has any religious or cultural rituals that they want to include. Do they want to break a glass? Jump a broom? Do they want to include any Buddhist poetry? Will there be any readings or songs in the ceremony? Of course I offer counseling, but it’s not required. But I will pray with the couple before the wedding and commit to pray for them all the way to the wedding day.

And I was thinking, for now, I’ll offer my services to the moms of Queen City Stay At Home Moms at a discount as a member perk. Everyone else $220 for a basic service and rehearsal rate. I really don’t think   I would marry anyone out of the Carolina’s.
Which works out fine based on the research I’ve done already. It is said, that in

North Carolina:   Marriage Officiants:/ordained minister of any faith who is authorized to perform marriages by his church may do so.

In North Carolina, I must return the license in SC….. the couple can once completed, return the license to its office of issuance (usually by mail) within 30 days of the wedding. The license is then recorded by the state and the marriage becomes a legal binding contract.

Marriage in South Carolina is governed by Chapter 1 of Title 20 of South Carolina’s Code of Laws.

SECTION 20-1-20. Persons who may perform marriage ceremony.

Only ministers of the Gospel, Jewish rabbis, officers authorized to administer oaths in this State, and the chief or spiritual leader of a Native American Indian entity recognized by the South Carolina Commission for Minority Affairs pursuant to Section 1-31-40 are authorized to administer a marriage ceremony in this State

Wednesday Wow: My Candidate did NOT WIN last night!

The votes have been counted. All the wings and spicy shrimp and chips are all eaten, and the “Vote For Me” street signs have all gone and I’m left wondering how such a great guy miss the mark.

You gotta see his video—>  Ramuntu For Mayor  <—–Click there!

I voted for this guy BECAUSE:

  • Proven record of leadership
  • He thinks before he speaks
  • He does what he says he’ll do. I don’t always like it but I know what to expect.
  • Great line up of supporters
  • He LOVES Charlotte

As a back up, I had just two other candidates I considered voting for the mayor seat. It was DAVID Howard and Jennifer Roberts. Here’s what news since last night election.

David L. Howard
Good morning,

Exhausted, emotional, tired, disappointed are all words that could describe how I feel this morning…..and to some extent, I have felt them all. However the overriding feeling I have this morning is one of PRIDE! My campaign was counted out so many times since we started in January, and yet we raised over $250,000 and came so close to forcing a run-off. We also introduced and shared a progressive and pragmatic vision for moving Charlotte, a city I love with all my heart – forward.

I have received dozens of well wishes and thoughts since last night…..and will respond to every one of them. I just wanted to say that Mary and I could not be more appreciative of the hard work everyone put into making the ‘HOWARD FOR MAYOR’ campaign one we can all be proud of. It was based on real ideas for real people. One of integrity, dedication, compassion and focused on keeping Charlotte competitive for decades to come.

I’m not sure what comes next, but am excited about having that conversation with God. Stay tuned, and again THANK YOU everyone that volunteered, worked and/or that prayed for the ‘HOWARD FOR MAYOR’ campaign.

Thank you!
David

And my other is favorite: Jennifer Roberts.

jennShe is could very well be our next mayor ! She has proven to be friend to environment, business and education alike!

Good luck to whom ever wins the Mayor of Charlotte race.

The 2016 presidential election is still several months away from now. We can still make further and deeper research to know who really is the one who will become the best president for our country.

Let us vote based on the capability, effectiveness and efficiency of the person, not on his or her popularity. Let’s vote for a president who will develop, not only our own province, but our whole country. Let’s support leaders, not because we are their solid loyalists, but because they can provide solid services.

Let’s elect leaders who will transform our nation into progress, not leaders who will transport our money to their pockets.

Ooh, and if you ever run into Cornell West, tell him he’s the greatest!!! He’s been traveling with Bernie. I met him at Winthrop the other Sunday. See how it went! (Click here)

See you later, Jabela, QC Supermom
