Our 1st Carnival Cruise

I know! I know, I’ve been away for a while! But wait till you hear about my journey back to you!

Well, here it goes…. I went on my very first cruise EVER! We had the time if our lives! The porting city was Miami, Florida and we stopped in Key West and ended the adventure in Cozumel,  Mexico! It was 5 days and four nights of fun, food, adventure, friends, and fabulous-ness (yes, it’s  a word!)

We could not ask for a better vacation.  At first, I had internal hesitation.  The Love Boat was the only good memory I ever had to relate toward any fun ship. Then there’s  Gilligan’s Island and Titanic to overshadowed that.  Never the less, I was able to keep it together for my 5 sons.

Checking in and registering everyone was easy! The ship was grand! The staff was happy to see us! They even learned our names! Can you believe that? The food, the service, the shopping in Cozumel, the value, the memories! UUUgh, I can’t wait to take my girls and husband on the next trip!

This trip was paid for by my oldest son and planned by my  (hope to be soon DIL) Genny!

I even thought about you!

10 Tips for a Vicory Cruise with Boys:

  1. The cruise is just the beginning. Spring for an excursion.

2. Don’t forget the camera. The water and smiles are rare and priceless.

3. If you are racist, Stay home.  No explanation needed.

4. Forget the kid’s bedtime.  Each night my boys watched a movie in the hot tub under the stars. Why stop them?

5.If you are a homeschooler, teach about your intended traveling and culture before boarding.  You’ll get the best teacher of the year title! Trust me!

6. If you’re taking more than one child, twin them up! Even the ship guest will help you keep up with them. You’ll thank me later for this!

7. If you have a long drive to the port, don’t throw away your water bottle, It quickly becomes a mobile potty.

8. Pack, then check twice before leaving home. Packing light and smart is the goal.

9. After letting your best friend know that you’re leaving, contact your credit card and cell phone company.  International rates and credit card freezing at the point of purchase is no fun!

10. Once checked in; grab the itenary and use it up! There’s so much to do!

Friday Four: Lessons From a Student Athlete’s Mom

hamp me

I think everyone has a story, but If I may, let me tell you why I am sitting here smiling from ear to ear.  It’s a classic story. Teen girl from a small town get pregnant and quits school to raise her child and never leaves the small town.BUT this isn’t my story!

I had a son at 16 years old. I finished college. Got married. Now I work from home . Today, that child graduates from college  with a college degree in May!

Be Happy For Where You Are.

Be the Best At What You Are.

But Never Stay Where You Are- KLP

I will never claim to know everything. But these are four tips I want to share with you to help get through those college years with your student athlete!

  1. Provide Birth Control– Since my son was not a virgin upon entering college, stopping at the big box store to purchase supplies including a large box of condoms was on list of “Must Do!” I didn’t want to play stupid. My son is a 6’8  basketball player. Grown women ,non African american women, and everything in between was hitting on him before he left for school and I knew that attending college and left to his own desires……. it would not end. So as always, it’s better safe than sorry parents.
  2. Stay Connected like AT&T– Now there’s FaceTime, Texting, Instagram, SnapChat,  and even cheap gas (yes, I said it) While there is nothing like a care package or phone call, don’t limit yourself to those two things. Be your child’s biggest fan! You should always be his/her biggest support system. College is stressful and can be over whelming.Continue to guide your child.                           Those pressley Boys 7-6-2015 12-21-33 PM
  3. Be supportive like banker– Give them money but be very discriminate. If you were giving them allowance when they were home, continue sending them money. Unless they are at a D1 school*, where money is slipped to them (athletes) here and there, your child is gonna need money for his/ her basic needs. Yet, be smart about it. There’s nothing more regretful than paying for your child to party their way out of school. Now some kids will get little jobs while taking classes. That’s a great thing. You may still have to help with upkeep of the car and other misc things.
  4. Accept help with a crystal ball.- giWhen my son first started playing basketball, everyone wanted to “help.” Then when he felt like being a goof ball and messing up, they fled. Nothing hurts more than that, for him or myself. From that experience, I’ve learned to evaluate everyone on a individual basis. I know that everyone that smiles in our face isn’t always the best one to trust with your child. It’s true,Not everyone wants something. Finding sincerely good people can be hard at times. But when you do find someone to look out for your son – you keep them. And you make sure they know that they are appreciated. I sleep so good at night knowing that almost every game my son has ever went to, there were warm hugs and familiar smiles waiting for him in that city. Even on campus, he has a circle of people that love him for who he his. That’s a blessing!                                                             https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KiGoh1BUJk4

Friday Four: O’my it’s raining mighty hard, it must be time for Noah!

Noah Elohim is 1 today!!!   nn

I’m sitting here looking at him as he dances across the floor with his big siblings. It’s so incredible to fathom the love God has for me compared to how much I sincerely LOVE this little guy (and the rest of his siblings.)

“I said, ‘You are “gods” [Elohim] you are all sons of the Most High'”

him noah

We have a birthday boy today! My baby, Noah has hit a major milestone right during the middle of a heavy and long rain.

It’s been so nice to see how, time, love and breast milk has done such as great job for him. At his checkup yesterday is got a A+. Meaning his weight and  height was in the 50th% range with others his age. We may not get a 6’8 guy like his oldest brother Jervon, but we won’t have a Muggsy Bogues either. 🙂

Do you know what his name means:  Noah

It’s pronounced NOH-ah. It is of Hebrew origin, and the meaning of Noah is “peaceful”. Also possibly “long-lived”, “comforter”, or “wanderer”. The patriarch survivor of the Great Flood who drifted in the ark for 40 days of rain. According to the biblical account, all the world’s nations are descended from Noah’s three sons. The name has been steadily used since the 17th century. (Noe is a Spanish form.) It has 6 variant forms: Knoa, Noach, Noak, Noe, Noe and Norrie.

Elohim-

n

It’s pronounced, Eh-loh-heem  “The Holy One, Blessed be He, said to those, You want to know my name? I am called according to my actions. When I judge the creatures I am Elohim, and when I have mercy with My world, I am named YHVH” (Ex R. 3:6). The name YHVH (from the semitic root that means “to be”) and expresses the idea of God’s closeness to humans. YHVH “breathed into his (Adam’s) nostrils the breath of life” (Genesis 2:7).  ( You can listen to it here. I LOVE the way his name is pronounced).

My husband and I created his name together after days of deliberation. We chose it for the same reason we named our other children righteous names. We want them to have something to keep them focused on someone greater then themselves.

1

Ok, great folks,I gotta get back to the party. Noah, is refusing to touch the birthday cake. I’d hate for him to sail away too soon to rebuild this crazy world on the account of a bad cake.
Don’t be surprise if you see the ark rolling down your street! Rain Rain go away, Noah’s 1st birthday party is today!

Yeah, I said it! Noah’s Ark……..(now watch Jennifer Hudson sing “Happy Birthday to You“)

Till the next birthday, be good, love strong & eat clean, QC Supermom

Friday4: Review-Disney On Ice-Dare To Dream

Another Disney show, that delivered on their promise! The kids loved it. Eaim left us to hang with his buddy, but every time I looked back at him, he was munching, jumping and smiling! Without a doubt Disney is in the business of bringing magic to life. Here’s my review.

This live show featured scenes from Tangled, The Princess and the Frog, and Cinderella. My 2 yr old marveled at the captivating action   of the characters taking to the ice. A memory I will never forget it!

Mickey and his friends, including Tiana, Cinderella and Rapunzel were there to celebrate the magic of wishes coming true. The show opens in New Orleans where we see Tiana sharing her wishes of opening her own restaurant. The story follows her adventures of turning into a frog and finding true love.

Next we see the story of Cinderella. After getting a chance to go to the ball, in a beautiful horse drawn carriage, which looked really amazing on the ice, she runs home as the clock strikes midnight. Next, Flynn rider hangs from the ceiling while trying to steal the crown.

Oh no, next we find Rapunzel locked in her tower trying to convince her mother to let her leave. We follow through the story and get to the part with Rapunzel finally seeing the floating lanterns. The arena was lit up with lanterns hanging down over the ice, and it looked AMAZING!

At the end of the show all the Disney princesses came out for the spectacular finale. LOVED IT!

Beautiful costumes, amazing skaters and and all around great show for the whole family!

On my previous post, I had a picture with Rapunzal holding a pot over a dudes head. I didn’t know why she was doing that, but that was totally an attention getter. Come to find out. She was ———-(you have to go to the show to find out- lol) Disney On Ice presents Dare to Dream” last show is Sunday. So you don’t want to miss it and there’s still time!

Disney On Ice put on their “Dare To Dream”

performance at the Time Warner Cable Arena.

We went to the 7:00 show. Mom, and the rest of

the crew seemed as if they had a great time!

Personally I give the performance tonight two

thumbs up, From the setting, to the hair and make-up all the

way to wardrobe. It was absolutely astonishing!! Exceptional!!

Words couldn’t explain how awesome it was!

My favorite part was when Princess Tianna kissed the frog,

turned into one, and went to the lady to turn her and the prince

back human. The woman was so funny, she reminded me of my mom!!

But the most romantic part was Rapunzel and her prince “Eugene”

(Flynn The Bad Guy) How they got to know each other and gained trust of each other. Overall, Everything was beautifully put together.

Bippity,Bopppity,Bye!!!- “D.” 12 yr old

We all went to Disney On Ice tonight.

I kinda liked it but I also thought that it was too much going on.

It was kinda over the top. I couldn’t keep up. They kept switching

the main characters to different people

“Cassie“11 yr old

I guess you gotta have a balance!

Friday four: Why I LOVE Huggies.

As I do each Friday, I’ll share four ideas. This Friday, I want to talk about HUGGIES.

It's ok! Your baby can drink all night long and still be dry in the morning.

What diaper do you use? How did you select that brand? Did you go throw at least five brands until you found that right one? So did I. Somehow, I always came back to Huggies. Right now, I have two in diapers. This time I knew exactly which brand I would help reach the cashier lane.
Here’s why:
1. Extra Protection- I hate it when my boys wake in the morning soaked and wet. With Huggies, it doesn’t happen at all. No matter how late they may sleep in. I’m sure my boys appreciate the extra protection as well.
2. Affordable- SAVE YOUR MONEY! You can always find a great coupon in Sunday’s paper for added savings, even at the grocery store. There’s no need to make motherhood too expensive.
3. Comfortable to wear- You know that area right there between the legs? Doesn’t  that look uncomfortable to you? At one point I considered cloth diapers, but then I get the second and third thought. Not! I’ll just continue to use my ole ‘ Huggies.
4. The Dance- Who doesn’t love a good song with a great dance to go with it? I sure do!

I have a secret hobby. I make diaper cakes for friends and family as great new baby gifts. I will only use Huggies in them because of the recognized quality. Right now, they are running a great promotion on line .As soon as it arrives in my box I will bring you into the world of saving with Huggies! So come back soon now ya hear!
Now, who wants to do the potty dance with me?
